Maze Maker Space Edition offers an engaging blend of challenge and entertainment suitable for all ages. The gameplay begins with your character, Hansel, navigating a maze characterized by initially invisible walls. The objectives—such as retrieving hidden space ship keys and fuel—are concealed within the maze layout, which gradually reveals itself as exploration progresses. Success depends on locating the necessary objects and returning to the designated target area within a limited timeframe.

The game provides modes of strategic confrontation: in single-player mode, players can test their navigation and problem-solving skills against the Mad Scientist antagonist, while also having the option to design custom mazes to challenge a friend. In two-player mode, players assume the role of Maze Maker, creating intricate labyrinths by placing walls, hiding essential items, and positioning transporter bases, all while concealing their designs from opponents. The gameplay incorporates elements of deception and intelligence, as players attempt to escape their opponent’s maze without revealing their layout. An innovative "spy report" feature allows players to monitor their adversary’s progress, adding a layer of strategy and suspense.
